Those words by owner and celebrity hairstylist, Jason Schneidman, are at the heart of California Born, his neighborhood barbershop where care extends beyond the chair. Known for giving haircuts to people experiencing homelessness, founder Jason has built his shop around the ideas that small acts of craftsmanship and kindness can restore confidence and dignity.

I was commissioned to create a collection of custom mugs and espresso cups that reflected those same values. Each piece was designed for daily use - simple, clean, durable and quietly welcoming - adding a handmade touch to the ritual of sharing coffee with every client.

Every detail was tailored for the shop - from the proportions of the mugs to the size of the espresso cups and the feel of each handle. The process included test forms, glaze samples and small refinements until the collection felt perfectly at home at California Born.
